    My Dear Sir:- Your letter of recent date was received in due season. I enclose a little clipping taken from the St Albans Messenger. I thought I would not use it until I could verify it. So if Mr. Griffith did leave directions for his funeral and they are to be followed out I wish you would mail me today or tomorrow the plans for the funeral, who the officiating clergymen, the bearers, the singers, etc, will be.

    The Danby Senator Gives Some Rutland Gentlemen a Day’s Outing.

    Through the courtesy of Senator Silas L. Griffith of Danby a dozen Rutland gentlemen spent Saturday at his magnificent mountain resort at Lake Griffith. The trustees of the Rutland Savings bank have this delightful outing at Mr. Griffith’s invitation each year.

    The walks and driveways about the residence of Mr. S. L. Griffith were last week newly concreted by Rutland parties, and the deft brushes of Painter White and assistants have made bright the long stretch of step leading to the house. With closely-cut lawn and an abundance of flowers, the handsome residence make a very pleasing impression upon all strangers who visit our village, and we hear many favorable comments passed upon it.

    Mr. S. L. Griffith was able to take his first carriage ride since his illness on Wednesday. It is needless to say that everybody was glad to see him out of doors again, although the Doctor forbade him holding conversation with anybody.

    Until after the probate of Mr. Griffith’s will nothing concerning the provisions of that document will be given out by those in authority. It is known, however, that Mr. Griffith named; Messrs. Wilbur H. Griffith of this village and George L. Rice, Esq., of Rutland as the executors of his estate.
