    Aged Men and Women of Danby Take Part in One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration

    In spite of the large number of prosperous men and women who have returned Danby during the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of that little Vermont town this week, it is apparent that all have not gone away to seek their fortunes.

    MR. GRIFFITH’S FUNERAL

    Notwithstanding the unceasing rain on Tuesday, there was a very large attendance at the funeral of Mr. S. L. Griffith, and many people journeyed long distances by rail and team to pay their last sad respects to a beloved relative, former employer, valued business associate, or respected friend.

    MRS. TIEL AT REST

    Mrs. Mary H. Tiel died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katie T. Griffith, last Saturday morning, after an illness of several months, aged 80 years. She is survived by a son, William Tiel, of Philadelphia, and two daughters, Mrs. Griffith and Miss Nellie Tiel. She was much respected among the people with whom she became acquainted while residing with her daughter here, as well as in her Philadelphia home.

    S. L. GRIFFITH DYING, HAD PASSED INTO A STATE OF COMA AT HIS CALIFORNIA HOME AT LAST ADVICES

    A telegram was received this morning from Mrs. S. L. Griffith at San Diego, Cal., saying that probably Mr. Griffith could not live but a few hours. Coma had set in and the physicians gave no encouragement that he could recover. The first news of the serious turn to Mr. Griffith’s illness came Saturday night when Mrs. Griffith sent a telegram asking W. H. Griffith, a nephew of the ex-senator to come at once. He left immediately but probably cannot reach San Diego before the death of his uncle.
