    THIS BOMB WAS A SWEET ONE

    ​At 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon Mrs. Mary E. Lapham of No. 46 East 67th Street received a parcel.

    At 3 o’clock Inspector Owen Eagan was plunging the package in the bathtub.

    And at 4 o’clock, after an hour’s gentle handling of the parcel, he brought forth its contents, a bottle of preserved fruits.

    Mrs. Lapham is the widow of John L. Lapham, a broker.

    ‘SUPERMAN’ SILAS GRIFFITH’S LEGEND LIVES AT DANBY’S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE PARTY

    ​“You know that Annie Rothman’s on to something with her book on Silas Griffith,” said Billy Beauregard at the close of the annual Silas, Griffith Christmas Tree party here Tuesday night.

    “Silas was a good man and this was a wonderful thing that he did,” he said, referring to the lumber baron’s will, which left money for an annual Christmas celebration.

    SPRINGFIELD FARMER, 97, FOUND DEAD IN BED

    Oliver Hadwin Was Native of Danby; Funeral Will Be on Thursday at Home

    Springfield, Dec. 5. — Oliver R. V. Hadwin, 97, a farmer, was found dead in bed at his home on Parker hill this morning by his son, John E. Hadwin, with whom he was living. Death is ascribed to heart failure.

    SPAIN - GRIFFITH

    In the presence only of the family and a few friends, Miss Griffith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Griffith, and Mr. Spain were joined in matrimony by Rev. L. S. Black, pastor of College Hill Presbyterian church. The house was tastefully decorated in yellow and white chrysanthemums.

    Notwithstanding the unceasing rain on Tuesday, there was a very large attendance at the funeral of Mr. S. L. Griffith, and many people journeyed long distances by rail and team to pay their last sad respects to a beloved relative, former employer, valued business associate, or respected friend.
