    Work of Enlarging the Hatchery of S. L. Griffith, Mount, Tabor

    The Bennington and Rutland road will soon begin building a railroad station at what is known as the south end in Mount Tabor. It will be called Griffith’s station. The ground has been graded and the now station will stand near the hatchery and trout preserves of Silas L. Griffith.

    CANDIDATE SPEAKS ON PRESENT ISSUES

    Decorated with cedar sprigs, silk flags and badges, 112 Vermonters marched with a band to the McKinley residence at 9 o’clock this morning. The delegation was applauded all along the line of march. When they arrived at the house Senator Proctor, Gov. Woodbury, Gov.-elect Grout, Congressman Powers, Lieut. Gov. Mansur and Lieut. Gov.-elect N. W. Fiske, with the speakers, went into the study to meet Maj. McKinley.

A native of the town where his greatest business achievements were consummated, he is an example worthy of notice of the sort of men who succeed wherever they are.

    Danby has the distinction of being one of the very few small towns in Vermont whose population increased during the last decade. There have been no large new industries to cause this development; it has been the steady influx of those who realize the natural advantages of clean village life and good farm land, an influx which has counteracted the constant drain of the city.

    REV. MR. THORPE PREACHES AT 25TH ANNIVERSARY SERVICE AS PASTOR

    A special service of appreciation was given by the Congregational church of Danby, this morning at 10:45, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the pastorate of Rev. William A. McIntire. The service was conducted by Rev. Walter Thorpe of Rutland. A large congregation had gathered on the lawn of the church where the service was held. The occasion was surprise to the pastor and expressed in part something of the respect, admiration and love for the service of the past and present years.
