    The public bequests of the late Silas L. Griffith were promulgated through the daily papers the early part of this week, but all efforts to learn anything relative to the private benefactions of the will have only met with discouragement from the executors.

    MRS. MARY GRIFFITH, SISTER OF THE LATE SILAS GRIFFITH DIES AT HER HOME IN DANBY

    ​Mrs. Mary Griffith, 61 years old, died at her home here last evening at 9 o’clock as the result of a shock which she suffered about 3 o’clock in the afternoon. She was the sister of the late Silas Griffith, and besides two brothers, Charles H., and William P. Griffith of this place, she is survived by two nieces, Mrs. W. H. Riddle of Brookline, Mass., and Miss Sarah Griffith of Danby.

    The funeral services will be held here Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock with burial in the Scottsville cemetery.

    GRIFFITH LIBRARY DEDICATION IN THE SOUTHERN VERMONT MIRROR

    Library Dedicated.

    The dedication services of the Griffith Memorial Library was held at the Congregational Church on Wednesday afternoon. The entire seating capacity of the church was needed for those who came to witness the exercises, many people from surrounding towns being present.

    The interest and appreciation with which the residents of Danby have received the new library testify strongly of its need, and are a hopeful promise of its future usefulness. More than 150 cards have been given out and signed in the week since its opening, and two hundred books have been drawn. Every afternoon and evening the attendance in the reading rooms, both the children’s and adults’ bears witness of their popularity.

    S.L. GRIFFITH IN MONTE CARLO

    Vermont’s lumber king, S. L. Griffith of Danby, is enjoying a trip abroad. He wrote home from Monte Carlo that he had played and won. Look out, Silas, don’t stay too long or those fish ponds will have to be restocked.
